Demon Slayer Movie 2024: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training” is a 2024 Japanese animated dark fantasy action film. This movie continues the story from the popular “Demon Slayer Movie 2024” manga and anime series. The Demon Slayer Movie 2024 picks up where the third season left off. Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito has just defeated Gyokko, one of the Upper Rank demons. After the battle, Muichiro gains a mysterious mark that increases his power. Exhausted, he is helped by swordsmiths Kozo Kanamori and Kotetsu.
Meanwhile, Tanjiro Kamado and Genya Shinazugawa are fighting alongside Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji against another Upper Rank demon, Hantengu. Hantengu has split himself into multiple forms, and his hatred manifests as a powerful creature named Zohakuten. Mitsuri awakens her own mark to fight Zohakuten, while Tanjiro and Genya chase after the smaller Hantengu.
In a climactic battle, Tanjiro uses his powerful “Hinokami Kagura” technique to decapitate Hantengu. However, Hantengu’s resentment manifests as another form, Urami, who nearly kills Tanjiro. Nezuko, Tanjiro’s demon sister, intervenes and sets Urami on fire with her blood.
As dawn breaks, Tanjiro receives a new sword from the swordsmiths. Hantengu, weakened and fleeing to eat the swordsmiths, is finally beheaded by Tanjiro. Nezuko, exposed to sunlight, miraculously survives and begins speaking again, much to everyone’s relief.
Through Hantengu’s memories, the demon king Muzan Kibutsuji learns that Nezuko is immune to sunlight, making her crucial to his plans for immortality.
Aftermath and New Challenges
After the battle, the Mist Hashira Muichiro thanks Tanjiro for his help. Mitsuri celebrates with them, and the entire Swordsmith Village rejoices. One week later, Tanjiro is recovering from his injuries. He receives a new sword with a guard that once belonged to the late Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku. Tanjiro also gets a letter from Tamayo, a demon doctor, who reveals that her research might turn demons back into humans.
In another mission, the Serpent Hashira Obanai Iguro and Genya’s brother, the Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa, investigate a temple. They discover it leads to the Infinity Castle, the lair of Muzan.
Demon Slayer Movie 2024: The leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, is dying. His wife, Amane, calls a meeting with the Hashiras. They discuss the awakening of the marks under extreme stress and the need for special training to prepare for Muzan’s arrival. The Stone Hashira Gyomei Himejima starts the training program, and the retired Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui returns to help. However, the Water Hashira Giyu Tomioka decides to train alone.
